Where to get help
- Any BC resident can call Gambling Support BC at 1-888-795-6111 for free, 24/7, even when a loved one is the gambler. A navigator picks up, helps at once, finds local services or links the caller to a counsellor, and gamblingsupportbc.ca is the website.
- Game Break, the self-exclusion program from BCLC, is voluntary; its terms last 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 3 years. Enrolment happens in person at a gaming facility or in an online meeting with a BCLC employee.
- On site, Casino Nanaimo has a GameSense Info Centre. Every BC casino has a GameSense Advisor available.
- From June 26, 2023 onward, entry to any B.C. casino has required government-issued photo ID to be shown. Security staff scan the card and compare it with a list of barred people, and anyone enrolled in Game Break is on that list.
Setting a limit before a visit
Before going, choose a time limit and a spending limit for the visit. Bring that amount and leave bank and credit cards at home, so the limit stays fixed. Take regular breaks away from the floor and keep an eye on the clock. When the time or the money is used up, the visit is over. In British Columbia, a person must be 19 to gamble, whether in a casino or online, and anyone under 19 is not allowed inside a gambling venue.
About the Chart editors
The Chart editors write the Nanaimo Casino Chart and sign it as a group. The name refers to a team of editors, not to one person. The site names no author, and its pages show no personal byline.
The guide's facts were checked on October 10, 2026. The sources were Casino Nanaimo's own pages, BCLC's casino listing, BC Ferries, BC Transit open data and the Government of British Columbia. The distances use OpenStreetMap map coordinates joined by straight lines, so roads and ferry routes are longer. Ferry schedules and fares are left to bcferries.com because they change.
Readers never type anything into the guide, because it has no forms, comments or accounts. The browser keeps the colour theme they pick. Visits are counted without cookies, and a separate statistics service also sees the IP address and browser.
The harbour, the ferry at a berth, the coastal highway and the pub table with fish and chips are not photographs. Image-generation software made these photo-like scenes from a written description, and the places in them are invented. None shows Casino Nanaimo, a BC Ferries ship or a ferry terminal. The same software drew the real Casino Nanaimo from real photographs, with a new viewpoint and time of day. Its three drawings, not photographs, show the teal glass entrance with the casino signs, the Terminal Ave sign tower and The Well Public House dining room.
Questions from the dock
Is Gambling Support BC open at night?
The line at 1-888-795-6111 is open 24/7 at no cost to any BC resident. A navigator takes the call and helps at once, also for callers concerned about the gambling of someone close.
Can a Game Break term be shortened?
After someone chooses a Game Break term, nobody can alter it. The lengths on offer are 3 years, 2 years, 1 year or 6 months, so think the choice through carefully.
